Samos is a beautiful island in the North Aegean with a rich history and is an ideal destination for vacations. There are frequent ferry routes to Samos from Piraeus port as well as from nearby islands.

There are various ways to reach Samos.

By ferry

There are ferries from the port of Piraeus to the two ports of the island: Vathy and Karlovassi, with frequent routes (4-6 times per week). The duration of the trip is 8-10 hours. Samos is also connected to the ports of Ikaria, the Cyclades, the Dodecanese, the North Aegean, and the port of Kusadasi in Turkey with daily routes.

By airplane

The island also has an airport located outside Pythagoreio. Four daily flights connect the island with Athens and two weekly flights connect it with Thessaloniki, in Northern Greece, as well as the airports of Rhodes, Chios, Mytilene, and Lemnos. The flight takes approximately half an hour to 45 minutes. During the summer months, there are also direct flights from cities abroad to serve tourists.

Local transportation

You can reach many parts of the island by KTEL buses. However, even during the summer months, the routes are not frequent enough. There are, however, several routes connecting the main towns (Vathy, Karlovassi) with the villages. To facilitate your transportation and better explore Samos, we recommend having your own means of transportation as the island has a fairly good road network.

If you wish to approach the island with your own vessel, there are two marinas on the island. One is located in Pythagoreio and the other in Vathy. More information here: www.samosmarina.gr.
