Activities in Samos (part 1)

Trekking is an outdoor activity of walking for more than a day. It is a form of walking, undertaken with the specific purpose of exploring and enjoying the scenery.

With a well-designed signposting project, in beautiful and dreamy natural landscapes, the approximately 260 kilometers of hiking trails that stretch across Samos, immediately become a pole of attraction for hikers.

They give the opportunity to their visitor, to get to know the enchanting forests of the island, to enjoy the view from the high peaks, to reach exotic deserted beaches, to visit sights, to taste from other paths… the local products of the island, the villages, the inhabitants, all seasons of the year.

On the island the hiker has to choose routes with all degrees of difficulty; from simple hikes for the whole family, to demanding mountaineering climbs.

A little bit of history of horse riding : Following the War, the Club of Horseback Riding moved to new premises in the Paradissos suburb of Amarousion in Attica, thus attracting the attention of many Athenians who had the prerequisites for horse-riding. It soon became the first significant center for the development of competitive riding in Greece.

Since then, equestrian sports has been developing steadily in the country and is considered to be one of the rising sports. It is popular with the public, especially the young.

A climbing day next to the sea. In the area of Karlovasi (potami beach) there are 3 climbing sectors with more than 30 available routes to climb. The most of the routes it is on the sade until the early afternoon.

Our first and the most popular choice it is the sector next to the sea, next to the road, ideal for the beginners challenge and for a easy going holiday day for the most experienced climbers.

The routes is less than 12 meters with grades from 5b to 6b

For the most demanding climbers the 2nd climbing sector it is only 10′ far away by the footpath with a panoramic view and of course with a good warm up with the 10′ hiking uphill. In this place it is a split of more than 20 routes to climb. the heights is between 55m and 8m with grades from 5b to 7b+

For the very demanding climbers it is also the 3rd climbing place into a Canyon for overhangs climb with a access again 10′ by foot .

After the climb we have the ability to continue the trip to the waterfalls for a refreshing waking into the water and an easy climb on the waterfalls for one more hour.

The mountainous terrain of Samos and its vastly varied countryside is amazing to discover by bike.

For a MTB trip of course we need mountains and that means uphills. You will find a mixture of roads for any level of biker even on the middle of the summer with routes into the forest shade with a lot of stops for water refilling, information about the area and photos…

The routes passing through the forest, small rivers and springs, villages and mountain chapels. We moving mainly into the farm roads and some small main connection streets between the villages. On summer time we choose the west north part of the island because of the best “Terrain” for MTB in Samos island.

These tours will take you to several traditional villages of the island passing through the mountainous and most forested areas of Samos, where you will be able to see some of the most wonderful views as well as the great diversity of herbs and flowers and the rare forest of black pine.

Another option is an afternoon trip with a long road drive on the off-road until the highest point of the North Aegean that you can go by car.

After the visit of the top and prophet Helias chapel during the sunset time we take the road back via the forest roads to the hotel.

Samos is an island in the eastern Aegean, with ideal climatic conditions for windsurfing. In the northern part of the island in the award-winning for the picturesqueness of Kokkari, is the center of windsurfing of Samos. During the summer months, the weak morning winds that prevail in the area, enable children and beginners to meet and have fun with sports. Early in the afternoon those who know how to raise the adrenaline in the sea, will meet the wave they are looking for!

Windsurfing has long been popular in Greece particularly during these windy summer months. And while it might seem a particularly demanding and extreme sport, it is a lot more accessible than you might think.

Recent improvements in beginner boards and sails mean that, with only a few lessons, you can begin to cruise around the bay at increasing speed, powered by only the wind in your sail.

Stand Up Paddleboarding is a fun and relaxing activity that anyone can try however it can also be a challenging and adventurous experience.

Rent a SUP equipment and exercise yourself. See the coast line from a different angle.

The Intro to SUP starts on the beach with a short demonstration about the basics of paddling. You will then be assigned a nice stable board and head to the water for your first tries. Balancing on the board while standing can be a bit tricky at the start but with some practice and help from your guide you’ll be gliding over the water in no time.

A jet ski is an exciting and exhilarating riding experience that millions of people enjoy all year in different places all over the world.

There is a lot to know before jumping in the Aegean with your jet ski! Stay calm, cool and collective, because like we mentioned before panicking will only make a situation you are in a lot harder.

Go through every one of these points and make yourself familiar, maybe even an expert in how to do everything you can to make a ride as smooth and safe as possible. If you’ve never ridden in the ocean you may also want to consider going on a trip with a tour guide first.
